Area Safety Manager Job Summary:

The Area Safety Manager will be responsible for completing projects in a safe manner. Responsible for overseeing all safety for employees, vendors, and subcontractors, the Area Safety Manager will identify specific hazards on project sites, such as potential electrocution, toxic substances, heights, or threats to human life, and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate the risks or exposure to such hazards. Assessing working conditions, the Area Safety Manager will help identify safety related issues and risks on project sites. The Area Safety Manager will train each member of construction project team on proper safety procedures. The Area Safety Manager will conduct daily safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with government regulations, as well as ensuring that Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws are strictly obeyed. The Area Safety Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of project‐specific site safety programs in compliance with client requirements as well as OSHA, DOT, and contractor safety program.

Area Safety Manager Duties/Responsibilities:

• Screen projects and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks.
• Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance.
• Liaise with external parties such as government-employed inspectors to evaluate the process of construction sites.
• Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and device solutions to safety-related issues on project sites.
• Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures.
• Maintain safety related paperwork, including Project staff (Company and Client) and Contractor’s safety training certifications required for company, client, and site.
• Train company employees and contractors on safe work practices and emergency procedures
• Discipline subcontractors and employees who fail to comply with minimum safety standards.
• Interact with licensed bodies for regular update on legal regulations and program initiatives on workplace safety and environmental issues.
• Ability to work un-supervised as required

Qualifications:

• 5+ years field experience in the commercial construction industry identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures with at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations relating to the specific trade or activity being managed.
• Good organizational and recordkeeping abilities – the ability to maintain good records of all safety-related activities.
• Ability to access heights via ladders or scaffolding as much of his/her job could require climbing to access construction above ground level.
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication and influencing skills especially with senior level executives.
• Taking and uploading digital photographs
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
• OHSA 10 or 30 Certification (required)
• Proficiency with the following:

1. MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, etc.)
2. Blueprint reading (preferred)
3. Procore (preferred)
4. Bluebeam Revu (preferred)
5. Smartsheet (preferred)
